The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery focuses on patient care and research in each of the orthopaedic subspecialties: reconstruction and joint replacement of the hip, spine surgery, surgery of the shoulder and elbow, knee surgery, sports medicine, surgery of the foot and ankle, musculoskeletal tumor surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma Surgery.

Our Department has a national and international reputation in orthopaedic research that is based on a broad representation of the varied subspecialties. The goal of the Orthopaedic Research Program is to develop fundamental knowledge, through basic science and clinical research, to advance the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and diseases as well as «bench to bedside» innovations.
